Welcome to Gugujah's own TIPS page.  Here, we hope to share even the simplest tips and advise from our own experience.  Although the tips will be related by the webmaster, the original source will be indicated.  Some of the tips will be outlined here if they are short and sweet; while others that may need more space, we will link them to separate webpages. 

We hope our small contribution can make your 4X4 or ourdoor activities more fun and fulfilling!

• Using the 4X4 drive:  I took for granted that driving a car in the 4H or 4L mode would be just like driving your normal car.  Boy was I wrong! 

Tip:  do not play with your clutch when in the 4H or 4L mode.  Once you engage your gear, release the cluth fully.  Otherwise, the clutch plate can easily get damaged (burned) ~ heard this 1st time from Zulu, and was repeated by Romeo.

• Where is your axle?:  the lowest part of your axle is where the differential gears casing are located.  Some are located right in the middle while others are either off to the right or the left of the axle width.  Know and remember where it is located so that we are concious when driving over rocks and obstacles, avoiding damages to the axle.

• Be like the boy scout - "be prepared":  the jungle is not a place where you find things as a when you want it.  Thus you need to be prepared for eventualities.
• mechanical breakdowns - the best is always prevention, i.e. always thoroughly check your vehicle just before any trip or outing.  Should any parts need replacements (especially those undercarriage such as axle, steering, and even tires) or even show tell tale signs that it is reaching the end of its useful life, replace them even though they "can still go a few more miles".  But the unexpected do happen when you are out there - thus do carry some spares.  To mitigate the high cost of stocking unneccessary spares, each member could carry different parts (similar vehicles in the group would be helpful).  And you could always buy one part before any trip, and buy different part on the next outing.  In time, you would have the essential parts in hand and ready for eventualiies.  Also, remember, greasing all them joints are essential not only before any outing but after each trip.
• tools - it is important that all vehicles carry the basic tools and at least one car carry the big items such as high-lift jack or air compressor. Wrenches and spanners preferably be of all the relevant sizes and in pairs.
• equipment and gadgets - we may think that this is natural, but you'd be surprised to find that on every trip, some particular equipment is oversighted.  For eample, spade and cangkul are important in levelling those too-steep slopes and salts is essential for the not only for cooking but for 'killing" them leeches as well. 
• Foodstuff - do bring along extra just in-case your outing is "delayed" ~ especially potable water and instant foodstuff.
